COMMUNITY DRIVES CHANGE

Connect Wetaskiwin is committed to fostering community-led development by enhancing relationships and instilling pride within the community through the identification and linking of local assets. Its long-term mission is to act as a catalyst for community action, uniting individuals around common causes or issues and providing the necessary support for successful collaboration.

VISION:  The City of Wetaskiwin is a thriving community where people foster strong relationships, are aware of opportunities  and have strong community pride.

MISSION:  Connect’s long term mission is to be a catalyst for action by bringing the community together for a  common cause or issue,  and providing support to make them successful as they work together.
Connect Wetaskiwin focuses on three primary goals:
  1. Promoting citizen connection, belonging, and pride.
  2. Identifying and linking individual and community assets.
  3. Empowering community leadership through action.

WE BUILD ASSETS

Connect Wetaskiwin is rooted in the Asset Based Community-Led Development (ABCD) approach, initiated with the Tamarack Institute's support. This approach emphasizes building from existing community strengths, encompassing assets from various levels of government, local businesses, organizations, and individual skills and passions.
To achieve its objectives, Connect Wetaskiwin assesses community assets and organizes connection events (e.g., town halls, block parties) aimed at fostering dialogue about community needs and available resources. These events help identify what exists to meet those needs, what may be redundant, and what collaboration may be necessary to fill existing gaps.

THE CORE TEAM

The Connect Wetaskiwin team is dedicated to inclusivity, transparency, respect, participation, advocacy, learning, and collaboration, comprising volunteer community members and representatives from local organizations.
